Final Animatic

With all of the skills that I have learned throughout the semester, I managed to make this short, one minute animatic. All of my drawings were created in Photoshop and brought into a timeline in Adobe After Effects. 

This is my final Project; a cliche story about little insects in high school going through typical teenager problems named "Bug High".

My main character is Steve, a friendly ant, who's friends with everyone in his high school, Bug High. The antagonist is a bully beetle named Brad, who bullies everyone into liking him. His doesn't like Steve because everybody likes him, so he spends most of his time finding ways to bug him. My foil character is the shy and pretty Lola. She doesn't really talk much, only to her friends. She has a crush on Steve but is too shy to tell him.

All students meet up at after school to talk and chatter about their grades and plans for the weekend.
Steve is just chilling when he sees Brad messing with Lola. Steve also has a crush on Lola so that is unacceptable.
 He goes up to him and says, "Mess with someone with your own strength!"

Brad laughs a nasty loud laugh while he holds Lola up by her fragile wrist. "Go lift some weights tiny twerp."
 Steve gets angry and picks up Brad and throws him across the school yard.

Everybody cheers for Steve the hero.

Steve and Lola walk home together. 

Character and Environment

Animatic Storyboard

This week we created the characters for our storyboard and the environment they will be interacting in. I used Photoshop to create my drawings. The environment will be a back yard with buildings and items made out of human trash/items and nature fit for insects to use in their everyday life. The milk carton will be the high school were more interaction will take place.

This is Steve, my protagonist who will be the coolest, nicest (but smallest) guy in high school. 

This is Lola the Butterfly. She's sweet and shy and she's afraid to say no. Almost all the guys in High School have a crush on her but she doesn't even know.

This is Brad. He is your typical high school jock that bully's everyone into liking him. He also had a crush on Lola but has also scared her into being his girlfriend. The only one who isn't afraid of standing up to him is Steve the Ant.

Walk Cycle

Walk Cycle

This week we created a walk cycle on Photoshop and Animate. The walk cycle is of my main character, a cool, laid back ant, and he's walking across the stage which happens to be a backyard where my animatic will take place. 

I drew the movements in Photoshop using the Muybridge motion cycle photographs as a template to draw the movements of the legs and arms as he walks:

This week we worked more on animate and created an animated PSA. We created a story board and worked off of that to create our scene.

Timeline Animation

We worked with the timeline in Photoshop to create an animation with audio and music. I also used more of my characters to interact with the environment.

Squash and Stretch

This week we began using Adobe Animate to create our animations and used the stretch and squash technique to create a bouncing ball in an environment. We used the drawing tablets to create our animations.

 This is the final product with sound and music, with a more elaborate environment. My environment was meant to look like a young child's room so I added the building blocks and toys to give the ball something to interact with.
